Simpsons X Kid Robot
Kid Robot wanted to license The Simpsons for a kid/adult collectible toy line. Their standard approach was to use a generic dummy figure that they would re-skin, but I felt that wasn’t true to the Simpsons’ design style. Instead, I broke the rule that the head had to remain featureless and began simplifying the Simpsons characters into a fresh, stylized form. This had never been done before — it was a risk, but one worth taking to keep the brand feeling new. In the end, I designed over 70 different characters, all of which were produced, leading Kid Robot to also license Futurama and Family Guy. In addition, I was responsible for creating bespoke packaging for each new series released.
