Villain-Con Minion Blast Universal Studios
I joined the team for Project 331 (Villain-Con Minion Blast) at the start of the pandemic—a massive undertaking that kept me and the Universal teams fully immersed for months. I was responsible for designing the blaster used in the ride, as well as the exterior and interior of the building. I also developed the brand look for Villain-Con, including much of the accompanying signage and environmental graphics.
As the project evolved into the queue line experience, I collaborated closely with Claudia Mielnik (EVP, Illumination Theme Parks) and Brett Hoffman (Illumination Film Producer) to ensure every detail matched the tone, humor, and world-building of the Minions universe.
Most people don’t realize how much work goes into creating a world guests only walk through for a few minutes. Every poster, ad, sign, and prop was thoughtfully designed—many multiple times over—to hide Easter eggs for fans to discover. In total, I designed hundreds of pieces that tied the story together.
Crafting the world of Villain-Con was both a creative challenge and an absolute blast—pun intended.
