Minions Movie Marketing Artwork
The SVP of Marketing at Illumination Entertainment posed the question: “How do you show Minions in history?” My response was to reinterpret classic art through the lens of the Minions, drawing inspiration from masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Piet Mondrian, Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, René Magritte, Roy Lichtenstein, Jackson Pollock, and Pablo Picasso.
For the campaign, we explored two directions: one placed the Minions subtly in the background of iconic paintings, while the other made the Minions the central focus, replicating the distinctive styles of the classic artists. Both approaches were implemented across marketing and digital campaigns.
My original concept took it a step further—replacing famous paintings in museums with Minions-infused versions to generate an online buzz. It would have been fascinating to see public reactions to discovering the Minions within the masterpieces.
